Grain Free Power Balls

I love power balls because they don’t require an oven, take about 10 minutes to make, are packed with fiber, protein, and healthy fats, and are delicious! These power balls are gluten free, grain free, and very versatile. Feel free to play around with different kinds of nuts and seeds. I love to play around with Brazil nuts, walnuts, cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, and ground flaxseeds. If you want them to be sweeter add 1 date at a time, until you get desired sweetnesses. If they need to be stickier, for rolling purposes, add more almond butter or nut butter of choice.

This is a great recipe to get the kids involved with. Depending on their age, you can have them form the balls or just have fun rolling the pre-made balls in the hemp seeds and shredded coconut. If your kids have never tried hemp seeds before, have them see how many they can catch on their tongue. I have learned through experience, when I ask kids to take a bite they are less willing to do so, but if I turn it into a game, it is far more likely to be successful. Speaking of games, if you haven’t already, make sure to download our Taste-O-Meter. This is a great tool to encourage children to rate their food. Instead of saying, “take a bite” ask them “what they rate the food?” Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
