4 Favorite Homemade Salad Dressings
Dressing can make or break a salad. Thankfully there are so many delicious recipes for salad dressings that are easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. For store bought dressings, I prefer Primal Kitchen because they are made with avocado oil and don’t have any added sugar. Most dressings on the store shelf have seed oils, because they are cheap, and added sugar. In general, I use Primal Kitchen as a back up when I don’t have any dressing made up because good quality dressing is expensive. I love how when I make my own, I can use high quality ingredients at more than half the cost and it tastes delicious.
Here are my 4 go-to recipes from several of my favorite bloggers including, Danielle Walker with her amazing dairy free Ranch Dressing, Lauren from The Schmidty Wife with her Hummus Dressing, Olivia Adriance with her Italian Dressing and lastly a simple olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette dressing I heard on a podcast years ago (I’m sorry I don’t remember the source).
Hummus Salad Dressing from The Schmidtywife
For full recipe go to the link provided above.
Ingredients:
hummus (I recommend Cava as it is made without seed oils)
extra virgin olive oil
water
lime
sea salt
Italian or Greek Seasoning
Dairy Free Ranch Dressing from Danielle Walker
For full recipe go to the link provided above.
Ingredients:
Avocado oil based mayonnaise (I like Primal Kitchen or Chosen foods)
full fat canned coconut milk (look for BPA free lining)
garlic clove, crushed (I use garlic powder)
fresh parsley, chopped
fresh chives, chopped
fresh dill, chopped
lemon
onion powder
sea salt
Pro tip: Chop up all the fresh herbs and squeeze lemons into a jar. Using a silicone muffin try, like this one, measure out the herbs and lemon juice into individual muffin cups and freeze. When you want to make Ranch Dressing, put a frozen puck into a jar, allow to thaw and then just add mayo, milk, and spices. This trick saves time and makes sure your herbs don’t go bad in the fridge.
