Family Favorite Burger Salad
There’s a dish in our house that everyone—especially my girls—can’t wait to see on the table: our family-favorite burger salad! This has become a weekly staple not just because it’s absolutely delicious, but also because it’s packed with nutrients, loaded with fresh veggies, and even has some gut-loving probiotics.
What I love most about this recipe is how simple and versatile it is. It’s quick to whip up, easy to customize, and perfect for serving family-style. Everyone gets to build their own bowl, piling on their favorite ingredients and creating their own meal they are excited about. Whether you’re looking for a fun twist on classic burgers or a creative way to get more greens on the plate, this burger salad is sure to become a favorite in your home, too!
Ingredients:
lettuce
avocado, chopped
cherry tomatoes, chopped
red onion, chopped
cilantro, chopped
pickles, chopped (pro tip- I use Bubbies pickles that are fermented to pack in the probiotics. Look for pickles that aren’t made with vinegar and are found in the refrigerator section if you are looking for the added benefit of probiotics).
Sweet potatoes, chopped
cheese, cubed
burgers- cooked and chopped (We use turkey or grass finished burgers)
Ingredients for Dressing- This is the part that makes the salad so good!
4 tablespoons avocado oil mayo (I like Primal Kitchen or Chosen Foods)
4 tablespoons ketchup (I like Primal Kitchen for a no sugar option)
4 tablespoons pickle juice (I like Bubbies for the added probiotic benefits)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400 F.
Chop sweet potatoes into bite sizes pieces. I leave skin on for added fiber.
Drizzle with avocado oil and sprinkle with Redmonds salt.
Bake until golden brown, about 20- 30 minutes depending on size.
Put all your ingredients in separate containers so everyone can serve themselves and make it their own.
Mix all the ingredients from the dressing together.
Enjoy!
Tips to involve your child in the preparation and increase the chance your child will actually try it!
Invite your child to…
wash and dry the veggies
rip the lettuce
cut veggies using a child friendly knife
mash avocado
measure dressing ingredients
mix the dressing
taste test the dressing to see if it “needs” anything else
